It’s holiday decorating time! I couldn’t be more excited! Another one of my favorite holiday traditions is putting up the Christmas lights. I can’t wait to share some images of our lights and decorations inside… especially our mantle! For now, here is some holiday decor inspiration that I absolutely adore.

Now that Thanksgiving is over, we can take down the fall decorations and start thinking about December. December means that I drink obscene amounts of hot chocolate and go ice skating as many times as possible. In my world, winter is the perfect time to “live colorfully”. I always talk about how I shy away from color in my wardrobe, but in the winter I long for a little something extra to brighten up my day.
That’s where Kate Spade comes in. Snatch up everything you can so that your winter accessories are full of color (and yes sparkle and shine count)! It’s going to be so hard for me to narrow down my list, but here are some must haves.
Happy Thanksgiving Eve everyone! I was so excited to show you my pine cone place cards yesterday I almost forgot about the tablescape. As you all already know, I’m obsessed with gold and I decided to play that up for Thanksgiving. The entire thing was done for less than $20 including the place cards! I hope you all have an amazing Thanksgiving, eat up!

Please keep in mind that I’m FAR from a professional photographer!
I’m really excited to share with you the project I did today for our Thanksgiving table. I saw this post on Cupcakes and Cashmere last year, and remembered how much I loved the idea of pine cone place cards. I put my own little spin on it but here it goes!
I started with pine cones, raffia, and an amazing piece of card stock with raised polka dots. I drew circles onto the paper and then just free handed the names of my five guests with a fine point Sharpie. Then, I cut out the circles and punched a small hole at the top left of each.

I then threaded a piece of raffia through the hole and around the pine cone. It doesn’t really matter how long the raffia is, it depends on how many times you want to wrap it around. Then, tie in a bow and you’re finished! Here is my finished product. The entire Thanksgiving tablescape featuring these place cards will be here tomorrow!

Today is Thanksgiving food shopping and centerpiece making day! The food shopping part isn’t exciting at all, but centerpieces and place settings are right up my ally. I’m using a lot of inspiration from this post last week. I’ll hopefully be posting some pictures of the process here. I’m excited for Santa to come with my DSLR so I can do more of that, but right now my cousin very conveniently leaving hers here works for me! For now, I leave you with an image of this adorable Give Thanks card from Rifle Paper Co which as you all know is my absolutely favorite place for all things cards and stationery.

I was watching a really silly show last night, which I will not mention the name of, and the planner shut down an amazing idea the bride had for a cake. Instead of using birds on the cake like the bride suggested, she decided to put the wedding singer in a bird-cage… wearing wings. Obviously I said aloud ”is this for real?” It was so unfortunate and got me thinking about how many brides let a pushy planner run wild with their day. Needless to say, I’m a huge advocate of planning your own wedding and then hiring a “day of” planner just to make sure everything is perfect logistically. Stay strong ladies, it’s your day. Recognize the difference between helping and taking over! I would put birds on a cake in a second, like this:

Any who, the cake debacle on the “show that must not be named” got me thinking about wedding cakes. If you’re going that route, make sure that there’s a little something for everyone. If you chose a three-tier cake, make the biggest tier your favorite flavor. If the biggest tier is going to be something plain like vanilla with strawberry filling, take a little bit of a risk with the smaller layers… you will surely have some chocolate lovers there on the day of! Here are some of my favorite cake designs, no matter what’s inside these are sure to make a statement on your wedding day.

I can’t believe I’m writing a Twilight post! I probably shouldn’t admit this but I’ve never read the books or seen the movies. I know enough to get the jist, and I couldn’t help getting a little excited about the idea of Bella and Edward’s wedding. What will it look like? If I were planning their wedding this would be it, think a ton of candles leading to a ceremony nestled in the middle of a forest. Yes, please!
