Vintage vs. Modern
April 30, 2012

Hope you all had a great weekend! It went a little too quickly for my liking, but don’t they all? Over the weekend I found a lot of gorgeous vintage images and was pinning away, as usual. I started to notice that there are a lot of fabrics, patterns, and silhouettes that are similar to modern dressing. Obviously, today everything is a lot different. Instead of a fur stole for instance, we might wear a fur collar. Check out some of my favorite looks, then vs. now.

Weekly Faves IV
April 27, 2012

Happy Friday! Hope you all had a fantastic week. I finally got an iPad! I bought one for Andrew for his birthday last weekend, and after spending a few hours on it I knew I had to hop aboard the train. I use that metaphor because this is day three and it has made my commuting life, on the train, so much easier. I can dedicate more time to Glitter & Gold and that’s always a good thing! Do you have any big plans for the weekend? I’m excited that the forecast shows the weather holding out so we can all enjoy a little sun, and warmth of course. Here are my favorite looks of the week.

Let’s Have A Party
April 26, 2012

Do you ever just want to have a party? I woke up this morning in the mood to entertain. Sometimes, I just get the fever! At this point, I don’t even care who it’s for… I would throw a strangers birthday party if they let me plan it from start to finish. You can be sure there will be plenty of desserts and drinks, big balloons, and lots and lots of streamers.

Bridal Jewelry
April 25, 2012

Happy Wednesday! Let’s talk weddings. I think wedding jewelry should be based off of your personal style. It’s such a great way to add a little drama to your wedding dress,or just the opposite. This may be obvious, but if your dress is heavily beaded, stick to smaller accessories. If your dress is plain don’t be afraid to go for bold jewelry, but make sure you don’t go overboard, you don’t want to take away from that new rock! Here are some of my absolute favorites.

Pop Of Pink
April 24, 2012

I don’t know if it’s because of my time at Juicy Couture, but I love pops of pink in home decor. I almost never wear pink, but I like to inject it into pillows, rugs, couches (if done right) and chairs. It’s a way to add just a little bit of a girly touch to a room. To me, a pop of pink looks best with white or grey accents. I wouldn’t mix too many bright colors together, but when researching I found some amazing multi colored rooms that were absolutely gorgeous. These though, are so my style.

{Currently Coveting} Leather Sleeves
April 23, 2012

Today it was cold and rainy in NYC. This week, if the rain ever stops, it will still be in the 50s. I’ve managed to fend off my insane need for a blazer or jacket with leather sleeves because of the cold but to me, there is nothing chicer. My obsession will so be in full force until the weather changes again!

Tea Time
April 19, 2012

As an anglophile, I take tea seriously. Okay, I don’t drink tea very often, but I take tea cups, finger sandwiches, jam, and tea cakes very, very seriously. I also take other people drinking tea seriously. So much so that I have already insisted to my lovely Mother that my bridal shower is to be a traditional English tea. Fascinators, Royal Dalton china, scones, crumpets, awesome. This is a seriously tall order considering tea time in the English countryside is pretty unforgettable and hard to duplicate. Especially when it’s nestled on a small street overlooking a castle.
I get really happy just thinking about it. Here’s a glimpse into my dream tea party.

Make A Statement
April 17, 2012

I’m always a big fan of statement jewelry. Especially for someone who typically wears black, jewelry can add texture and color to any outfit. Here are some of my absolute favorite statement necklaces, all found via Shopbop. I swear that site is evil! These are the perfect addition to any outfit, day or night, to give you that extra something.

Too Hot To Handle
April 16, 2012

It’s hot. 86 degrees to be exact. In NYC. In April. Apparently we skipped right over spring and went straight to summer. My entire wardrobe plan for the week had to change, and now I’m searching for inspiration. I’m always super envious looking at photos of Coachella, even though I probably would never like to go there in person. For now, I’ll admire the fashion from afar! The style at Coachella is geared towards summer and a lot of the time takes a turn towards the edgy. Loving it!
