Can’t believe it’s almost July already, my birthday is on Tuesday! I love that my birthday is the 3rd of July. It means that I will always have off the day after if it falls during the week. If I was having a birthday party, this is what I would do. For some reason I’m really feeling pink today. I won’t be having one this year, but maybe next year I’ll pull out all the stops!
I’m sure you are all aboard the Instagram train… if you follow me on Twitter, you will notice that I’ve been using Instagram to post pretty much everything. To me it’s the best way to document all of my activities using images without having to actually think about typing out an explanation all the time (probably not the greatest exercise for a blogger but I digress). My grandparent’s 65th wedding anniversary is coming up in July. My Grandma (who is 91 and yells in French) and my Grandpa (ex U.S. Navy Special Ops and semi pro football player) are the perfect example of a lasting marriage. I always love looking at photos of my Grandpa in his Navy days, but they have always been very secretive about their wedding. They won’t tell us the exact date of their anniversary, but they were kind enough to send over some photos after a afternoon of questioning from my Dad and I. I had to share them with you because they are completely amazing. I wish I could go back in time and watch from afar. Wasn’t my Grandpa handsome?
Looking for a new pair of sunglasses is a much harder task then I anticipated. I’ve been fawning over two pairs of Rebecca Minkoff sunnies for weeks now, but there are so many other options out there. I can’t get over pair number six, don’t they look like Angry Birds eyebrows? Anyway, if you’re on the hunt for new sunglasses this was a great start for me. Plus, a couple of pairs are $9.99 so you can’t really go wrong!
I realized a lot of things furniture shopping this weekend, but the one thing that stood out in my mind the most was that I love everything tufted… and I mean everything. Specifically, I find myself being drawn to tufted headboards. When I came home and took a look at my Pinterest, I noticed that there were tufted headboards all over the place. Apparently I knew I liked it long before I actually realized that I should be purchasing one ASAP. Check out my favorite headboards, they will definitely be a part of my inspiration board when I head back out again.
I got stuck in this crazy tsunami/monsoon/hurricane thing twice today. Feels like these clouds are following me! Let me tell you, I do not remain chic when I am caught in pouring, heavy rain even despite an umbrella (the second I opened it it bent completely in half). Don’t you wish you looked like this after a rain storm comes passing through? I do.
I’m going to start off this post by admitting something. Sometimes, I’m a little overwhelmed. Okay… sometimes I’m a lot overwhelmed. When I’m feeling like I can’t possibly do one more thing without having some type of breakdown, I always stop to make a list. Russell & Hazel “to do” sticky notes have made my life a whole lot easier in that regard. But, I always feel like something is missing. I can’t consistantly have my work Outlook calendar in front of me (which is impeccably organized I might add) so I need to find a way to make that come to life. I need a planner and I need to organize that planner, stat. I stumbled across this first photo on Pinterest and knew what I had to do… gold mini binder and mini smartdate month tabs, please! Oh, and washi tape for extended projects and market weeks.
I breathed a sigh of relief as soon as the order went through. In a few short days I’ll be on my way to some serious organization. The planner will also look really cute on my desk (I’ve yet to pick this out, I’ll revert back later) in the new apartment. Maybe it will look like one of these for about two seconds… a girl can only hope!
Andrew and I signed a lease on an apartment… it doesn’t seem real but it’s totally happening come July 22nd! We will officially be Hoboken residents, and we couldn’t be happier. Since living in the ‘burbs, the convenience of Hoboken is even more obvious in our minds. Not only will we be living in a building with a great gym and sundeck, but we are literally steps away from the path train and the Hudson River (which is a lot prettier when you’re looking AT New York).
West Elm and Pottery Barns site traffic has gone up considerably since I signed the lease, eek! The list of “must haves” is complete, and I’ve drawn my ideal layout on our floorplan. I know what you’re thinking and yes, I do have mild OCD… and I love it. I feel like the floorplan we chose gives us so much space to have things we never could in our last apartment. I have my eye on this headboard for the bedroom, which could be a pretty epic DIY for me and my Dad. Also, these lamps for the living room, which probably have look alikes at a flea market somewhere. I’m excited to define a style with Andrew… gone is the college collection of mis-matched peices we somehow made look decent, it’s time to say hello to the style that will define our living space for years to come. Here is some of my inspiration. There is a lot of black, white, and gray involved but you all shouldn’t be surprised about that… wish me luck!

I don’t typically wear shorts, even on the hottest of days. I have a feeling that this summer is going to be an exceptionally hot one though, as shown by this past weekends 90 degree Sunday. I took the plunge and ordered a pair of these boyfriend shorts from Gap, the neon pink pair to be exact. Funny thing was, my Mom also saw them online and bought me two pairs on the same day without knowing I had ordered the originals… love her! It was a good thing I liked them because now I couldn’t be more excited to have three pairs at the ready. They are not only the perfect length but the most comfortable shorts I’ve ever worn. Check out just a few of my favorite colors. The white ones will be mine very, very soon as well!
