I really wanted to focus on beauty this year, even though it’s not something I usually do. There was so much great hair and makeup on ladies that weren’t exactly best dressed (Reese Witherspoon for example) but they deserve an honorable mention for just how fantastic their heads looked. Here are my picks for best beauty of the 2013 Oscars.

Honestly, I’m horrible at making decisions. Someone asking me what I’m in the mood to do or where I want to go to eat is like asking a brick wall. The same goes for my hair. I love bangs then hate them, I love my natural color and then I’m bored, I only like my hair curly then I only like my hair straight so it’s really hard for me to make a decision in the salon. Since I’m getting married in a year and a half I know I won’t be cutting it short, but I’m bored! Dying my hair seems like the solution but I don’t know if just going darker for winter will quench my thirst for change. What do you all think about going ombre?

I just finished the third Hunger Games book and saw the movie over the weekend. Aside from the amazing costumes of the Capital citizens, I was struck by Cinna’s gold eyeliner. You all know how much I love gold, and whenever I go out a little gold eyeliner or eye shadow goes a long way for me. The thing I like so much about gold eye makeup is that it can be very subtle or very bold. Adding gold to an already jet black winged eyeliner, so what Katniss would do if she was into fashion. Here are some of my favorites… I had to throw that last one in there for fun, so amazing!

I’ve been growing my hair for a while now in search of the ability to braid it. Right now the layers are just too short to get anything that looks remotely like a braid. There are always little pieces sticking out the side, so for now I’ll just stare at images of other people’s braided hair and will my own to grow faster.

I’m totally obsessed with my nails lately. I just did this crazy red and black striped manicure last night and I’m sure I’ll be changing it again in a day or two. I’ve been browsing a million websites for inspiration and I realized that I absolutely love multi-colored nails. Forget using just one color!

I tend to think that getting bangs is a genius idea, until I get them. When I was in college I studied abroad in London, before I left I wanted to get bangs and ended up with the shortest pieces of hair I’ve ever seen hanging down onto my forehead. Eek! Anyway, I just got bangs again over the weekend. Although they are oh so much better then the last time they are still oh so annoying. Here are some of my immediate problems with them.

1. When you wake up in the morning, you look a lot like Harry from Dumb and Dumber and not anything like this model with beautifully groomed bangs.

2. As soon as you step out of your house this weird bang separation thing happens. Obviously, you don’t notice this and no one tells you until you happen to see yourself in a mirror or on TMZ.

3. You think that the solution to the weird separation thing is to get thicker bangs. No, that is not the solution because this will happen.

4. You never, ever look like this not matter how many times you show the person cutting your hair this photo. I’m convinced this is somehow Photoshopped.

In closing, bangs are kind of terrible but kind of awesome. I’m sure I will embrace them for a couple of months and then begin to grow them out. In two years I will get bangs again and forget how many headbands I purchased this time. Such is life!

Red lipstick is a sure thing for me on Valentine’s Day. Although I’m not positive what shade I’ll be wearing, I’ll be sure to channel some of these lovely ladies when I’m making the final decision.

Ever since I was little I’ve longed for my pin straight hair to be filled with beautiful full curls. Now, with about 45 minutes time and a 1″ barrel Hot Tools curling iron I can make that happen; but I still wish I could just wake up in the morning and have hair like this. Does anyone wake up in the morning with hair like this? Probably not, but can I be the first person to? Please?

I always get excited around the holidays for all the bright and festive nail colors. Typically people will go red, which is what I intended to do today when I walked into the salon. But it seems like every two weeks the Shellac gel color options grow. So, instead of red I went with one coat of white and two coats of gold sparkle. I die!!
