Our Room
January 8, 2013

Andrew and I still don’t have bedroom furniture. It’s a little scary to think that we have been in this apartment for 6 months with a mattress (on the floor), a dresser, a TV, two lamps, and a vanity in our bedroom. We have no bed frame, headboard, or night stands. I think it’s time to get going on that, and I’m collecting a ton of inspiration so that we can get started. We need to make sure that whatever we get is functional as well as pretty though and I think that’s where I’ve been stuck! But once I discovered Z Gallerie I’ve been all over their bedroom section. There are a TON of really pretty options that actually work for our lives; like this nightstand (love the tray that slides out). Looking at these inspiration photos I pulled, I’m thinking the Z Gallerie options will work just fine!

Zara Home
October 10, 2012

The site is looking much better today, huh? We are almost done with the coding and I couldn’t be more excited! Another thing making me excited is Zara Home being available online! As an avid Zara shopper, I’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. London has had Zara Home stores for a while now and I’ve been waiting for one to pop up in NYC, but online is even better. Especially with free shipping in the month of October.

Zara will always be my go to for basic apparel… especially dresses, blazers, and clutches. But now it’s my go to for home decor as well. You can always count on them to have something for everyone. Here are my top 5 Zara Home must haves. Happy shopping!

Apartment, Finally
July 23, 2012

After seeing my initial inspiration post, and another one, and then my inspiration boards you guys all already know what the plan was for our new apartment. Maybe it’s because I prepared you guys for a month and a half but I feel obligated to share photos (or maybe I just really want to). Typically I’m a perfectionist that wouldn’t allow photos until I actually felt like something was 100% finished. But, I love this living room! It’s far from finished and even farther from perfect, but it came together nicely and it was nice to relax here last night after the initial moving day stress was over. Granted, the other rooms are even less finished. Our bed is on the floor, we are using boxes as night stands, and nothing is where it should be. BUT we have each other, and a super cute couch that I can’t get over. Things will slowly start coming together and it’s going to be a really exciting time for us. I’m sure to be posting more photos on instagram soon, so you should follow me @glitterandgoldblog.

Apartment Therapy
July 13, 2012

Happy Friday! Our new apartment is the only thing that has been on my mind lately. It’s only a week until move in! I stumbled upon Plan Your Room and have been building our plan-o-gram ever since. It’s such a great resource and allows you to see exactly how your furniture, or potential furniture, will fit in your room. Since building the plan and buying quite a bit of furniture and accessories, I started making these inspiration boards for each room. A little inspiration can go a long way when moving! You’ve already seen my living room inspiration here and here, so now it’s time to focus on the bedroom and bathroom.

Monday Inspiration
July 9, 2012

Happy Monday ya’ll. It’s been a while, good to see you here. I spent a lot of this holiday week/weekend looking for furniture for the new apartment. You know, this one. I bought a lamp that is very similar to the one in the photos below and I’m officially obsessed. This living room is the bomb.

Our New Home
June 19, 2012

Andrew and I signed a lease on an apartment… it doesn’t seem real but it’s totally happening come July 22nd! We will officially be Hoboken residents, and we couldn’t be happier. Since living in the ‘burbs, the convenience of Hoboken is even more obvious in our minds. Not only will we be living in a building with a great gym and sundeck, but we are literally steps away from the path train and the Hudson River (which is a lot prettier when you’re looking AT New York).

West Elm and Pottery Barns site traffic has gone up considerably since I signed the lease, eek! The list of “must haves” is complete, and I’ve drawn my ideal layout on our floorplan. I know what you’re thinking and yes, I do have mild OCD… and I love it. I feel like the floorplan we chose gives us so much space to have things we never could in our last apartment. I have my eye on this headboard for the bedroom, which could be a pretty epic DIY for me and my Dad. Also, these lamps for the living room, which probably have look alikes at a flea market somewhere. I’m excited to define a style with Andrew… gone is the college collection of mis-matched peices we somehow made look decent, it’s time to say hello to the style that will define our living space for years to come. Here is some of my inspiration. There is a lot of black, white, and gray involved but you all shouldn’t be surprised about that… wish me luck!

Summer Lovin’
May 31, 2012

One of my favorite things about summer is the entertaining. In looking at new apartments, I’m holding out for exposed brick (remember this post) and a terrace, or even better a patio. Somewhere where at least four people can fit to hang out and enjoy the weather. Preferably not a terrace that involves three inches of space before the next building starts like the last apartment I looked at. This may be a tall order this close to NYC, but I won’t give up and these images will ensure that!

It’s All In The Styling
May 7, 2012

Do you ever wonder why your house never looks like the makeover shows on TV or fashion bloggers houses when they are featured on other blogs? Well, it’s because of the styling. You might think that you can simply stack books on your acrylic coffee table or throw any matching pillow onto your couch, but that’s not always how it works. Some people have an eye for color, pattern, and size but other people may have to work on it. Here are some of my favorite examples of really, really good styling that don’t necessarily follow all (or any) of the rules.

Pop Of Pink
April 24, 2012

I don’t know if it’s because of my time at Juicy Couture, but I love pops of pink in home decor. I almost never wear pink, but I like to inject it into pillows, rugs, couches (if done right) and chairs. It’s a way to add just a little bit of a girly touch to a room. To me, a pop of pink looks best with white or grey accents. I wouldn’t mix too many bright colors together, but when researching I found some amazing multi colored rooms that were absolutely gorgeous. These though, are so my style.

Apartment Hunting
March 12, 2012

I’ve been MIA for good reason. I received a job offer and accepted… time for me to say goodbye to freelancing! I’m so excited about the opportunity and to get back into the fashion industry full time. This also means I’m officially apartment hunting again, a loft with exposed brick would be my absolute dream, so it’s research time. Here are some photos of what a dream loft would be, wish me luck in finding it!
