Fall has always been my favorite season. I love when deep colors and lots of layers are finally socially acceptable again. I’m sure you’re not at all surprised that oxblood has been my favorite fall trend this year. Whether it’s a scarf, a blouse, jeans, a skirt, a bag, lips, or nails… oxblood is the perfect way to add a taste of fall to any outfit. Here are some of the items on my wish list for this season. What are yours?
The weather report isn’t looking great for this Thursday, so my typical outfit prep must change. Schlepping around Soho in heels just won’t work this year so I’m preparing for the worst. How do you make an outfit for hailing cabs and store hopping in the pouring rain work for champagne and shopping once inside? My night so far includes Coach, Phillip Lim, Alice + Olivia, Stella McCartney, and Marc Jacobs so I’ll definately need these FNO staples to get me by.
Fall is quickly approaching in NYC and so is Fashions Night Out which means there’s a lot of pre-fall shopping to do. Have you planned your night yet? If not, head on over to the website and print out your map… it’s a life saver the night of the events!
I’m a planner, I always have been and always will be; it’s in my blood. Obviously I’ve had visions of a fall wardrobe floating through my head for months now. Filled with cozy jackets and hats and a whole lot of black. I tried very hard this summer to fill my wardrobe with color so now I can’t wait to snuggle back into some of my favorite pieces fit for the crisp fall air. Here are some of my absolute favorites for fall. Obviously many (ahem Helmut Lang coat) of these things are out of reach for many of us including myself, but I’ll certainly be using this as inspiration when I head out shopping next week. What are your must haves for fall? Is there a particular trend you just can’t wait to try?
I’ve been so busy lately and I’ve been neglecting my Twitter and Pinterest pretty seriously. I’ve kept up with blog posts luckily, thanks so some serious insomnia that hits at approximately 3am every morning. The good thing about said insomnia is that 3am New York time is 9am Paris time and my Twitter feed is filled with photos of croissants, Parisian architecture, and of course outfit photos via Instagram as everyone makes their way to the shows. I wonder if you guys can guess my four favorites. Probably, I’m super predictable when it comes to Paris, and fashion week, and colors.

There are few things in this world that are absolutely necessary for me to have as part of my wardrobe. I usually try to be versatile and switch things up every now and then. But basic tees (like in yesterday’s post) and skulls are two things I can’t live without. I’m proud to be just a little bit “different” or “edgy” when it comes to my style. I will wear a girly sundress with some spikes and skulls any day. Here are few things I can’t believe don’t already live in my closet.

So did you watch last night? I was so excited I actually printed out ballots and made desserts that looked like little Oscar envelopes. Yes, I am insane. I think I’m the only one who is excited that The Artist won best picture. Excuse me but Jean Dujardin is amazing (aka kinda cute) and Uggie, c’mon how could you not give it to them? Oh, and the cinematography and all that jazz was good to, or something.
Anyway, here are my best dressed picks from last night. Three for being a little daring (Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Chastain, & Rooney Mara) and two for just looking super classy (Tina Fey & Mila Jovovich). I can’t get over this cape on Gwyneth, she looks amazing and Jessica Chastain’s bespoke Alexander McQueen is just off the charts!
Apparently I like black, navy, and white… who would have thought? Anyway I wanted to mention that I’m leaving Angelina out because her leg was bothering me but MAN OH MAN she looked good. I swear the woman isn’t human, it’s kind of gross. I love Michelle Williams I just wasn’t too thrilled with all of the fabric on her dress, I think the peplum would have been enough!

I know you all notice that one girl who decided to wear a sequined dress out on a Friday night. I can spot a girl in gold sequins from a mile away, and I love it! Sometimes though, those sequined dresses can look cheesy and like they belong in a 12 year old’s dance recital. I have had these four dresses in my sights for a while now. Can you say ideal party dress? With an amazing pair of black heels and a black clutch you have the perfect dress to catch those Friday night lights just right.

Alexander McQueen will forever be the most innovative and unique designer in history. No one pushed the limits as much as he did when he was with us. I’m so happy that his spirit is being honored in the collections since his passing. I can’t get enough of this Fall 2012 presentation. The leaves rivaled Burberry’s rain and added such whimsy to the collection.

Kung Hei Fat Choi! The people of China celebrate the Chinese New Year today! While working for an international department in the fashion industry, I learned a lot about holidays all over the world. Chinese New Year has always been my favorite celebration though and this year is extra special because it’s the year of the Dragon. To me, the year of the dragon means it’s time to adopt a “go get ‘em” attitude towards certain things in my life. Like my post yesterday said, it’s time to do something about that list of goals collecting dust!
What should you add to your wardrobe to channel that dragon? These pieces would be absolutely perfect to show the world that you mean business. A leather lapelled blazer? Sign me up! Now go be the dragon you always knew you could be!
