In 7th grade when my parents told me I was going to Catholic school I was pretty pissed. First of all, who wants to wear the same thing every. single. day. Not me! Second of all, knee highs… gross. Anyway, I got over it and 6 years later when I graduated high school I was finally free. My transition into the “civilian world” was a hard one, but I seemed to hit my stride and loved putting together outfits. Recently though, I’ve been noticing a pattern. As work and wedding planning gets more and more crazy, my daily outfits become more and more like a uniform. If I could wear boyfriend jeans, sneakers (cute ones, I promise), and various plaid button downs or tees at all times I totally would. So ladies, I think it’s time for me to embrace this uniform, invest in a few more pairs of really great jeans and tees, and rock it with pops of texture and color in my accessories and beauty choices. Here’s what I’m hoping my jeans and t-shirt wardrobe will look like.
This ombre wall across the street from my apartment building was just begging for an outfit post, don’t you think?

I hope you all had a great holiday! I took a little bit of time off from blogging to celebrate with my family and with the future in laws. We have been on a Christmas celebrating marathon since the 22nd and Andrew and I were happy to find ourselves sitting on the couch watching movies as the snow fell last night. Andrew went back to work this morning but I’m off for the rest of the week so you know my days will be filled with wedding craziness! FYI: I was given the Style Me Pretty book (like I don’t spend enough time on the website) and there’s so much inspiration in that bad boy I’m going to explode. To keep you updated, wedding venue we loved didn’t end up working out so we are back to the drawing board and in overdrive this time. Wish us luck finding somewhere this weekend!

Okay guys, it’s the 20th. If the world ends tomorrow I’m going to be pretty upset about not fitting that skydiving trip in. Anyway, I figured we should discuss what we should be wearing if the world does end. I’m not sure what exactly is supposed to happen, but hopefully we will know a couple of minutes in advance so I can do a quick change (because that’s what really matters, huh).

PS: If the world actually ends I’m glad no one will have access to this post of me poking fun at the world ending.
First of all, it’s starting to get festive here in NYC… Christmas decorations are going up everywhere and people are beginning to holiday shop. It’s my absolute favorite time of year here on the East Coast! The month of December will be filled with drinks under heat lamps in Bryant Park, ice skating in Rockefeller Center, and hot chocolate near the fireplace so I will need some go to pieces to pair with what is currently in my closet. Here are the fall/winter items I’m currently coveting. *This Celine bag being on Overstock is killing me. I wish!
I went shopping yesterday very quickly after work. I typically don’t step foot in H&M in Manhattan considering it typically involves quite a lot of pushing and waiting. The windows drew me in though and I ended up finding a lot to try on. Now, typically my H&M experience also involves hating 3/4 of what I take into the dressing room but this time I was pleasantly surprised. Let’s just say there is a lot of pattern and a lot of peplum and the fit is exponentially better (most notably that I can actually wear their dresses in public because they fit me length wise). Score!

Things were crazy my first five days in a new office with a new role! My desk is all set up now thanks to some seriously pretty office supplies from The Container Store. I love that I don’t have the same supplies as everyone else, bringing your own can really make a cube feel like home (sort of).
I’ve picked up the style of the other people in my office and unfortunately it’s a mixed bag. Seems like half of the girls wear “trendy” clothes, lots of colored jeans and Zara… then the other half wears very “office appropriate” clothes, lots of pencil skirts and heels. I’m going with trendy or else I’d be bored in a week. Like I said last Sunday, I’ve decided to lay everything out for the week to come so yesterday I worked on that for this week. The weather being in the 50s and 60s mean a lot more options to layer. I’m taking inspiration from these lovely ladies this week.

I told you guys earlier I wouldn’t be able to help showing you J. Crew’s fall 2012 menswear line. I’m totally smitten. Andrew will be wearing some of this whether he likes it or not. The coat in the fourth photo is so amazing, such a great silhouette!
