Met Gala 2013: Chaos To Couture
May 7, 2013

In my opinion, there was more chaos than couture at the Met Gala last night. Maybe couture isn’t obviously sononomous with punk, but some people just completely missed the mark. Very few even knew one punk song, or band for that matter! When I think punk music I think The Ramones, Dead Kennedys, Rancid, Misfits, Black Flag, and The Sex Pistols. When I think punk fashion I think flannel (you were right, SJP), mohawks, leather, studs, and an attitude like no other. Nothing mattered but the music. Last night, the fact that the Goo Goo Dolls and Avril Levigne were brought up in reference to punk made me cringe, but I digress. My best dressed this year are purely based on the interpretation of the theme. Last night wasn’t about who wore it best, it was about who wore it punk. Before I get started, here’s my vision of punk:

And now, here are the few people last night I think got it, sort of, right.

Now just a quick note on who got it wrong: Uma Thurman and Kate Upton… really? Green floor length gowns and updos? Where did you think you were going? Kim Kardashian didn’t get the memo to not wear skin tight small prints when you have curves (much less a preggo belly). Ugh. Heidi Klum got lost on the way to a white party and Kate Beckinsale was missing about 4 feet of dress.

Insta Month
June 28, 2012

I’m sure you are all aboard the Instagram train… if you follow me on Twitter, you will notice that I’ve been using Instagram to post pretty much everything. To me it’s the best way to document all of my activities using images without having to actually think about typing out an explanation all the time (probably not the greatest exercise for a blogger but I digress). This month I have been especially active on Instagram. All ya’ll should sign on those little iphones of yours and follow me @glitterandgoldblog.

A Week Of Outfits: Part II
May 21, 2012

Obviously you all already know why I’ve been MIA for a while. This week blog, Facebook, and Twitter postings will still be sparse unfortunately. On Friday I showed you what I wore last week, and this week I’ll do the same.

Arm Candy
May 2, 2012

I know a lot of people are saying the arm party is over, and I somewhat agree. I’m not the biggest fan of wrists being jam packed with chunky bracelets but in clothing and accessories, I’m all about the layers. A spiked, grungy bracelet stacked with more delicate chains or a watch (gold of course) is my absolute favorite. Here are some of the best ways to do this, in my opinion. Just the right amount of attitude!

Skulls & Spikes
March 6, 2012

There are few things in this world that are absolutely necessary for me to have as part of my wardrobe. I usually try to be versatile and switch things up every now and then. But basic tees (like in yesterday’s post) and skulls are two things I can’t live without. I’m proud to be just a little bit “different” or “edgy” when it comes to my style. I will wear a girly sundress with some spikes and skulls any day. Here are few things I can’t believe don’t already live in my closet.
